I agree whole heartedly. Anime is simply overtaking dA.
Look at the front page and count how many pieces you find compared to REAL art.

In fact, the only thing that makes me even stop and look at a piece of anime is if it is colored well. If its just a sketch or drawing, then its worthless, because any one else can draw the exact same formulaic, disposable crap. There is no uniqueness, spare the type of clothing that the clone might be wearing. Yep... unless the paint/color is done extremely well with a good background, I will not even bother to look at anime anymore.

I agree, I'm an anime/manga artist, yes, but there's other stuff on DA, and I'm getting sick of always seeing the same artists' stuff on the front page, and I'm tired of always seeing Naruto stuff on the fron page, yes I'm a fan of Naruto. But come on!! Those things usually take 2 hours, and there's a lot of photos/drawings out there that's really good and not anime related!

I agree, and its not only with anime.
But nothing can be done about it, since DDs are based on the personal opinions of the staff.
The FAQ says that "it is important to note that selections need not be of professional quality in order to be featured for the day."
Still, I think that a piece needs to have at least one of these atributes: a great concept, a great execution or a great meaning behind it. There are some recent deviations that do not have any of the above. If it isnt special, why making it a DD? We will never really know.

i mean, have you checked out the fucking photography on dA? if you could even call it that. jesus. every fucking thing is like some girl with hot pink hair and five tonnes of eyeliner and sparkly photoshopped eyes. or like. sunsets. wtf. or people trying to be original and taking pictures of household objects. and bear in mind that all of this shit is lacking in every fucking way.
